Ciara Rickert, BS, MSW, LCSWA has always been passionate about working with children, adolescents, and families. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and earned two bachelors degrees in Psychology and Social Work at Appalachian State University. Ciara has five years of experience working with children and families in a variety of legal, advocacy, and mental health settings. Ciara has experience working with children and families in grief and bereavement counseling at Kids Path/Hospice and Palliative Care in Greensboro. Ciara has also worked with children and families involved in foster care and adoption in the child welfare system at Rockingham County DSS and Forsyth County DSS. Ciara has used a variety of therapeutic approaches including person-centered therapy, non-directive play therapy, art therapy, movement, mindfulness and acceptance therapy, and music therapy. Ciara understands that children have their own unique language and do not always have the words to express how they are feeling on the inside; especially when they experience challenging emotions that may be new to them. Ciara works closely with children to ensure that they find the most comfortable and natural medium in which they can openly express and process their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
